Stance is an AI photo coach that helps you improve your dating-app photos. We built it around a simple principle: your photos and your profile are yours. This policy explains exactly what data the app handles, where it goes, and what we do not do.
Stance ("we", "us") is operated by PT Bahana Penjuru Darussalam, a limited liability company incorporated in the Republic of Indonesia. You can reach us about privacy at [email protected].
Most of what Stance knows about you never leaves your phone. The onboarding profile you create — first name, age, height, build, style, hobbies, city, the dating apps you use, your goals — is stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device database. We do not have a copy of it on a server, and we cannot read it.
When you ask Stance to audit your photos, the selected images are sent — over an encrypted connection, through our processing service — to a third-party AI vision model (OpenAI) which returns the written critique and scores. In this flow:
During a live coaching session, Stance analyses the camera feed entirely on your device using Apple's on-device vision frameworks to detect your pose and framing. The live camera frames are not uploaded anywhere. Photos you choose to capture during a session are saved to your device and are only sent off-device if you later run an audit on them (see section 3).
Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple handles your payment; we never receive or store your card or payment details. We receive only the subscription status needed to unlock features.
Stance asks for two permissions, both optional and used only for the stated purpose: Camera (the live coaching session) and Photo Library (selecting photos to audit, and saving captures). You can change these any time in iOS Settings.
Because your profile and audit history live on your device, deleting the app removes them. Photos sent for an audit are not retained by our service after the result is returned. To ask a question about data handled by the AI provider on your behalf, contact us and we will help.
Stance is intended for adults (18+) using dating apps and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
