Mezzo — Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-05-09

The short version

Mezzo is a voice training app. Almost everything happens on your device. We don't have user accounts, we don't ask you to sign up, and we don't upload your voice recordings — ever.

The only data that leaves your phone is (a) your subscription state, sent to Apple and to RevenueCat to validate your purchase, and (b) if you choose to join the waitlist when your voice falls outside our supported pitch range, the email and pitch reading you give us at that moment. Everything else stays local.

We don't track you across apps. We don't sell your data. We don't use third-party analytics. We don't profile you for ads.

What we collect, and where it lives

On your device, never sent anywhere

These are stored in iOS's standard local app storage (UserDefaults and the app sandbox). They are removed if you delete the app.

Sent to a third party — only with your action

The waitlist. If your voice falls outside the supported pitch range (150–280 Hz) and you choose to join the waitlist, we send your email address, your measured median pitch, and a low-or-high range marker to a Supabase database we maintain. We use this only to email you when Mezzo expands to support voices like yours. We do not sell or share this data, and you can request deletion at any time by contacting us.

Subscriptions. When you subscribe, App Store handles your payment. We never see your payment details — Apple's Privacy Policy applies. We use RevenueCat to validate your subscription state. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier and your transaction information from Apple; it does not receive your name, email, or voice data. RevenueCat's Privacy Policy applies to the data they receive (https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy).

What we don't do

Microphone

Your microphone is used for live calibration during onboarding and for recording during daily exercises. iOS will ask your permission on first use. You can revoke microphone access at any time in iOS Settings → Mezzo → Microphone. Without microphone access, Mezzo cannot analyze your voice.

Recordings are processed on your device using the YIN pitch detection algorithm. The audio file remains in the app's local sandbox and is never uploaded.

Notifications

If you opt in from the Sunday Audit screen, Mezzo schedules a weekly local notification reminding you that your letter is ready. These are scheduled by iOS — there is no push server, no APNS token, no remote service involved. You can turn them off at any time in iOS Settings → Mezzo → Notifications.

Children

Mezzo is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Because Mezzo stores almost all data on your device, the simplest way to exercise your right to delete your data is to delete the app — everything goes with it.

If you have joined our waitlist and would like your record removed, contact us at the email at the top of this policy and we will delete it within 30 days.

If you live in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (such as the EU under GDPR or California under CCPA), those rights apply. Contact us to exercise them.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. If the change is significant — meaning it affects what data we collect or share — we will notify you within the app before the change takes effect.
